Kodiak Custom Fishing Tackle Bottom Fish Jigs are designed for catching the wide variety of fish species (both large and small) that dwell on the ocean floor. Recent improvements have drastically increased the performance and durability of the best bottom fishing jig that this world has to offer! Molds have been made to cast the outer body, stainless steel eyelets have been incorporated and a commercial quality powder coat seals the deal. Jig bodies are now the same (5-3/4 inch) length for all three sizes. Superior quality stainless steel, kink-resistant shark leaders are used to attach a 9/0 trailer to an 11/0 main on our double hook system. Multi-layered squid skirts with glowing inner layer covers the hooks. Using scent or “FRESH” bait strips (salmon bellies, octopus legs, squid, halibut skin or herring) that are 4 - 5 inches long can produce excellent results. Your bait should run in line with the lures’ weight and skirt, and attach to both hooks causing minimal disturbance in the action of the lure. Bulky chunks of bait will cause the lure to tangle around itself and/or flutter off-balance adding extra resistance in the water. Make sure that both hooks are protruding out of the bait so when a fish strikes it will get hooked. Use a slow jigging method (pausing regularly) 1 – 6 feet off bottom and bounce the bottom regularly to monitor depth changes and to keep the lure in that strike zone.
