Fortunately I was born into a family of stellar outdoors-men.  My father and older brother are great fishermen who make their own salmon and steelhead fishing lures.  These guys were my mentors.

I started making spinners pretty much when I began winter steelhead fishing at the age of 10.  Naturally kids are clumsy, uncoordinated and famous for getting line tangles and losing tons of lures as a result.  I was no different from those kids.  This flaw of mine caused my dad and brother to lose out on their own fishing time because they were always tending to me.  A day of steelhead fishing for them consisted of breaking off lures that I had hung up in rocks or trees, untangling nasty knots in my reel, then tying on another lure which, sooner or later, would end up in another rock or tree.  The average life of a spinner was about five minutes while I was learning how to steelhead fish.  No matter how disgusted my dad and brother would get, I still wanted to keep fishing so they were stuck.  It wasn’t long before my dad realized that it was time for me to learn spinner and knot tying so he could enjoy fishing again.  Lucky for him, I was a good student.  I picked right up on the skill and never forgot it.  As I grew older, I became more in-tune to the art of building and fishing spinners.  I had a dream that (to this day) leads me on a never-ending quest to develop the best lures that this world has to offer.  My goal is to be recognized as the guy responsible for building lures that out perform all others on the market.  A lure that catches several fish without deteriorating from being constructed of weak components.  One that especially possesses a strong hook that will not rust over night in a tackle box.

In the year 2000 this dream became a reality and I opened my business (Kodiak Custom Fishing Tackle).  My hand made lures can now be found in thousands of tackle boxes belonging to people from all over the world.  These lures are custom crafted to catch salmon, steelhead, trout, grayling, pike, all bottom fish species, and much more.
